KDE keyboard focus issues

When logging into KDE I always resume my old session with waaay too many windows open. However this can apparently sometimes lead to some issues.

Lately I've been bitten a couple of times and been unable to exit KDE cleanly. When I login the kdewalletmanager usually pops up on another screen, so if I forget to feed it my password and instead start to type in an address in Konqueror and it then starts auto-completion all keyboard input is apparently routed to /dev/null and I have to remotely restart xdm :(

I hear you man, I have noticed the same problem. More often than not its Akgregator that chokes on me.

Why not (ab)use acpid?

If your keyboard is stuck, hit the power-button, switch to a vt and restart xdm from their. Works very well in case of 'X ate my keyboard'. All you have to do is to add this:
event=.*
action=chvt 1
to /etc/acpi/events/default

works great!
(found it in f.g.o afair)
